Welcome to Port Said!

These ships, apart from putting on an absorbing spectacle as they file past the Suez Canal, also bring in a fair share of visitors to the city. Not surprisingly, Port Said is a melting pot of diverse ethnicity and culture, and has a cosmopolitan character. While Arabic is the mother tongue, English and French are widely spoken.
Just across the canal lies Port Said's twin city, Port Fuad, which is a major residential area. The two cities are connected by free ferries that move between them all day long. Port Fuad has some of the most elegant houses and gardens in the area and is a lovely place to take a stroll.
Apart from a Port Said tour of the Suez Canal, the other attractions in Port Said include the National Museum, the Port Said Military Museum and the old lighthouse. Built in 1868, the light tower is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the city. Another popular landmark is the main thoroughfare known as the Sharia Palastine. Abuzz with activity, the Sharia Palastine is where you find the best Port Said restaurants and shops in Port Said. Being a duty free port, shopping is one of the favourite past times of visitors here, and chances are, you will find some good deals on Egyptian products.
Port Said is only a daytrip away from some of Egypt's most iconic spots. Take a boat along the Nile River for a Great Sphinx tour, ride a camel on the Great Pyramids of Giza tour, or spend the day on a Cairo tour, absorbing the ancient Coptic and Islamic sites.
