Welcome to Port Said!
More than anything else, it is Port Said's location that really sets it apart. Situated at the northern most tip of the Suez Canal, just where it meets the Mediterranean Sea in the northeast of Egypt, Port Said straddles the meeting point of three continents - Asia, Europe and Africa! It offers great views of the Mediterranean, perfect for watching ships passing in and out of the canal. However, Port Said is not just about location; it is a charming modern city with a distinct style of architecture, a cosmopolitan character and good value Port Said hotels. Plus, the weather in Port Said is great all year round!
Port Said is an excellent hub to begin exploring the wonders of Egypt and to relax, far from the hustle of Cairo and the sapping heat of the desert.

These ships, apart from putting on an absorbing spectacle as they file past the Suez Canal, also bring in a fair share of visitors to the city. Not surprisingly, Port Said is a melting pot of diverse ethnicity and culture, and has a cosmopolitan character. While Arabic is the mother tongue, English and French are widely spoken.
Just across the canal lies Port Said's twin city, Port Fuad, which is a major residential area. The two cities are connected by free ferries that move between them all day long. Port Fuad has some of the most elegant houses and gardens in the area and is a lovely place to take a stroll.
Apart from a Port Said tour of the Suez Canal, the other attractions in Port Said include the National Museum, the Port Said Military Museum and the old lighthouse. Built in 1868, the light tower is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the city. Another popular landmark is the main thoroughfare known as the Sharia Palastine. Abuzz with activity, the Sharia Palastine is where you find the best Port Said restaurants and shops in Port Said. Being a duty free port, shopping is one of the favourite past times of visitors here, and chances are, you will find some good deals on Egyptian products.
